Mo's magic
« on: 07/01/14 21:56 UTC »
I didn't want to high jack the new release thread but I owe a huge thanks to Jerry and all the "powers at be" that made this possible! Do- it is a true customer first organization and I can tell you when a catch myself on fire and get rushed to the ER there isn't any other hat I'm more proud to wear than a slightly melted Do-it hat!
A little back story on this bait.... I LOVE the carrots series but wanted a bait that would dead fish for multiple situation..
1 I vertical fish standing timber 9 months out of the year and most of the time they want the bait moving but not aggressively jigged. The best bite come by slooowly lowering a bait with a pause at the critical depths for me 3,5,8,10, 15 and 20 foot marks.   I wanted a bait whose tail moved when the bait did not and swam aggressively at super slow drop.
2 winter fishing the bait has to be dead still, if you move it 6 inches you will not get bit but a slight vibration with the rod tip will draw constant strikes,so I figured a bait that moved by its self would be the ticket
I spent over 2.5 years designing this bait and literally a couple hundred dollors on multiple designs until I perfected it!! I will say this bait will flat out catch fish!! It has been a fish slayer when nothing else will. It naturally swims at rest unlike any other bait much less mold on the market. When I brought it to the gathering I hope Do-It would see the potential of the design. The mold is an exact replica of the bait I spent so much time designing and testing. I appreciate Jerry not banning me from the forum after all my negative feed back on the prototypes lol he listing to the why it has to be like this and disregarded the "business stand point" to make my dreams come true. It is the exact bait,so I hope I could help Do-It with a wonderful mold but I can tell you they made a basement bait makers dream come true! I really appreciate everything from the mold to the people I call friends because of Do-It    Thank You! Try MO's MAGIC out there is a lot of potential yet to be unlocked from this little dude. Oh a little known fact walleye whacker Mike named the famed bait at the get together. Thanks buddy it has a ring to it. CTOM wanted to name it the "moron from Missouri" not such a ring lol

"Moron from Missouri"...per Mo.

Is that what Mo stands for. Who'd'a thunk. lol

The "magic" is a unique bait and it is an easy one to fall in like with. The guys at the get together played with this and have seen first hand what a nice bait it is. Good work Mo and congrats on  getting this done.

How are you rigging this bait?  I'm guessing a light wire hook on a 1/32 or 1/16 head.  Have you targeted bass with it?  Ever fish it on a drop shot?
Until next time.

It's great when a company like Do-It will take a bait like this that was a modification of one of the molds  and produce a mold so the rest of use don't have the hair pulling and hours of hard work to get it right. A BIG THANKS to Mo and to DO-IT for getting this made. There is no other company that is willing to do what DO-IT has done. Loyal customer for life. Mike 8) 8) 8) 8)
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

I'm thinking that 4" dragged SLLOOWWW behind a split shot will be vicious.  Drop shot will probably work nicely too.  Especially the 2.5" for panfish.  Or fished weightless. Damn I want this mold.  Good work Mo.

I know Mo uses much larger baits than what I do so I'd say he's probably hanging these on a jig of at least 1/16 or a 1/8....could be wrong but judging by the body size there wouldn't be a whole lot of hook to hook up on using a 1/32 head unless the bait was strung shallow.

The drop shot you mention Denny is exactly how I see this rigged for walleye while we drift. We can use two rods on the river and I always have one run as a dead stick using a drop shot rig or a very small jig holding the plastic while I jig the other rod more aggressively.
