We have a ton of water to get rid of yet in spite of having dropped over 2 feet in 5 days. The flow is hanging in there at 110,500 cubic feet of discharge per second yet. We need to get the water peeled back to under 20,000 to find any real solid fishing. Past years of intense high water like we have seen this year have had unreal bites about 10 days after the water tames down. Many of the fish have flocked back into deep backwater areas where the current didn't wear them out and it takes a little time for them to re-orient themselves to more customary haunts for this time of year. If the fish are as they were in years past they'll be on a major food fling for a month, very, very similar to the feed bag they put on in the late fall.
I'm looking forward to sitting in a Ranger, glass or tin. And Mo? I don't mind if he finds his way in there too. We'll be surround by water and a quick dunking will put him out if he self-ignites again.
