This concert was primo. It kind of took me back in time....hot, sticky nights and outdoor concerts. No bugs at all and a nice breeze.
The lead-in band was a local rock band made up of five kids. And I mean kids. The oldest one was maybe 15. Age was not an issue with this bunch. They were a great Jon Bonjovi band and never missed a note or beat. And they did a bang up job on a lot of 1960's and 70's era rock too. This young group sure did a good job of setting the stage for the Railroad. Grand Funk played some memory makers as well. They're the first band that I can remember in this park series that actually had music reverberating off the tall buildings down town. I was amazed that the crown was only about 12,000 people....15,000 at best. In spite of the shy attendance the crowd was into it big time. The local IBM is a huge corporate sponsor of these concerts and offer hand-outs at each concert. Last night the treat was a blue light wand and by the half way point of the concert the whole area was a sea of blue. Incredible.
