Muskygary is right.... Put the blade in the mold, close it (no need to squeeze tight), and pour.  Whatever flashes out flashes out...  Clip, snip, file and you are done.  I wouldn't make 200 like this but for 4-6 at a time, no big deal.

Who'd a thunk it would work. I had to try it using the Snootie mold and by Jeeves it does work. Actually I have been playing with a couple of these snootie head blades unpainted just to see what sort of action I get and its different to say the least. Way different from a conventional "sonar" type bait. I'm not one to put a blade on the bottom to fish it. I like to keep it a few inches off the bottom at rest and I think these will fit the bill great.

I had the air brush out to try and see if I have the issues with the air leaks resolved. Apparently the brush is working properly now as spraying wasn't a big mess and clean-up was even not bad. I did 4 two color blades and will get a picture up yet today.

I squeeze hooks in all kinds of jig molds to move the eye placement.  It changes the action by moving the eye placement.  If I get one I really like I will mark it and drill a permanent location for the hook.

I have tried all kinds of blade heads.  Most work, but aren't much different than the original.  I do have another one which I will photo and post.  I call it the "3/4 Fatty".  Its the head from the 3/4 oz "C" spinnerbait mold.  If you want a blade you can just rear back and launch off a breakwall 200 feet and crank it back it 15-18 feet deep, this is the one!

I have another one that I make using the slide-along head.  You can fish it really slow.

I'll post some pictures.

Here is an example.  I use a lot of center balanced tube heads for Lake Michigan.  When you get the hook eye this far back they dart 2-3 feet side to side like a fleeing baitfish.  This is for open water baitfish imitations.  You can even fish them vertically and they will travel in a large circle.  So I kept moving this eye back till I found the perfect position then marked it and drilled it.  This is a drop shop mold.  You cant get this much movement out of a traditional tube head.

Yes the action is wild.  Side to side and completely random like something chasing or being chased.  You have to be careful not to over-fish it or the Trout will miss it.

Like I mentioned I use it to imitate open water baitfish (alewives) on Lake Michigan, but I've used them off piers in FL for Spanish Mackerel and Jack Caravel that were busting into schools of some type of white bait.  I can see this working for bass or stripers  feeding on suspending shad.

I did an article for the In-Fisherman a couple summers ago about the whole system.  I put Pro-Cure Sticky Gel in the body of the tube... or a little canned mackerel.  Better than Gulp!

I have made many of these in 1/4 to 1/2 ultra minnow heads... Do the heavier heads still vibrate as good?

Thanks for sharing your ideas...  ;)

Partycrasher how did you paint the blade baits?  Powder paint and tape off or airbrush. I just bought a blade bait mold and looking for painting advise. Thanks for posting the awesome ideas
