Anybody here have experience fishing a shaky head. What's your preferred jig head, and go to bait? I really need to learn the subtleties of this technique.

I prefer the Bagley head.  It comes in 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4.
I use the following baits: 4" or 5" Carrot (awesome catch ratio), 4" Stick, 4.5" or 6" Flat belly finesse.

I really like the 6" Skinny Carrot for this as well.

To the other extreme would be what the guys are calling power shaking.  This is where they use a 7" or larger worm and either a ball or football head jig (1/2 oz +) and basically do the same thing.  This is what the Wackm' Multi Worm was designed for.

You can read more about this in Bass Master Magazine, p. 60. - May 2011.  I tried to find it online but couldn't.

When things get tough and I have to go to a finesse presentation I'll whip out the shakey head.  I'll use a head like the Xcite X-lock and I pour a 10.5" trick worm style worm.

When using a trick worm (Flat belly worm in 6 - 7 ") with lite line 6# - 8# fluoro I use the Owner Ultrahead

I often fish a creature bait ( Berkley Chigger Craw) on a shakey head. I use Dirty Jigs Standup head because they come in a heavy hook in 4/0 and 5/0.  These heads are also good when using the larger straight tail worms.  When using this rig I use 20# braid or 8# - 12# fluoro

Standard colors are: watermelon seed, watermelon candy and green pumpkin. Dying the tails chartruese works well for me.

BTW the 6" and 7" skinny carrot sticks are a great choice in place of a flat belly trick worm.

Thanks for all the posts. I'll need to check out some sites or stores for those jig heads.
