the urge is strong!
« on: 10/16/14 20:26 UTC »
Hello!   I've been checking the forum out for a little while and reading up on soft plastics and thinking of taking the plunge.   I bought an injector and a couple panfish molds from Fishhunter775,  but no plastic or colors yet.  Yet being the key word.  I work fulltime but have a side business making jigs that I sell at local shops and a couple chain sporting goods stores.  I do recognize I few people here from other forums too as this "hobby" is a pretty tight knit group of folks.

Just wanted to say hi and that if my wife strangles me after making an order my blood is on your hands!!  Just kidding.  I don't think she knows the combination to the gun safe??  Or does she...  hmmmm...

Anyhow I enjoy seeing your guy's work and will hopefully have something to add to the mix soon!

Do yourself a big favor and remove this web page from your memory and run as far away from here as you can. You are heading down a very long dark road. Run my son run ! And never look back !

Don't listen to Lamar, Bucko.  Stick around so we can learn from you.  We usually pick each other's brain when we need help.  We leave CTOM alone because his brain is pretty small we don't pay too much attention to Mo because he rarely has anything important to say.  Other than that every one else is so-so.
Until next time.

Welcome! Take what Denny says with a grain of salt... He's a retired lawyer.  Other than that, yeah he's so-so like the rest of us.  You might want to think about a 2nd and 3rd job, you're going to need 'em.  Or if you have kids, sell them into slavery.

They are spendy, that's for sure.   Think I might look around and maybe buy some sample bags to get a good look at them before buying the mold?   I'm a "hands on" kinda guy.   I need to hold and inspect things that I purchase.   I do wish I would have moved on this earlier so I could have gotten in on the swap.  That'd be the ultimate hands on way to check out different molds and colors.

Bucko. If you see baits you would ask samples of. If you ask sometimes guys will help you out.  Most guys will trade plastics for jigs or little
Money.
Denny you should be easy on mo he's kinda a big deal.   :).

Welcome to the site Bucko. You'll fit in and it won't be the end of the world.

Oh, and if you are wondering about the "lunker" under Denny's name....I can give you his lady's email address and she'll be happy to clear up the mis-print. She always calls him wee willy when I bring him up.

I gotta say that you,  ctom, make some really cool nanos.  That is definitely one of the molds on my hit list.   I'll bet they would work just as well on the ice as they would on open water.

The Nano mold is a snap to shoot and the bait is a super ice bait. Its also great in just cold water situations like early spring [immediate post-ice out] and late fall. The multiple color Nanos are challenging simply due to the small cavity sizes. It also requires very specific SMALL pour and control capability and a small spoon fits those needs very, very nicely. Because the bait is quite tiny, the color intensity of the plastic needs to be increased but the results you have seen in the pictures here.

As soon as you get your Nano mold and feel like you want to step into that rewarding realm of working tiny, just give a holler and we can get some real specific pointers to you that will shorten the learning curve immensely.
