The original Thump Grub was an instant hit with walleye guys who fish the Mississippi River up here. When I got the mold I shot up about 200 samples, many of the bait pictures shown here and stopped at one of the better launch/bait facilities [Everts Resort] near the Red Wing dam on a few occasions with those in tow and the popularity was instant with many of the better anglers that start their fishing trips there. For a while now I have been playing with some sample baits from the new, smaller molds that Jerry made up for me in a couple different pet colors and those have ben HOT with the fall crappie bite and the larger of the two has nailed some nice fall walleye and sauger.
Like the expanded Mo's bait mold and the broad Small Fry mold size selections, these two new Thump Grub bait molds really help round out this clan Do-It of baits. Paddletail baits as a family are one of the most versatile baits a person can fish. These from Do-It molds have a very nice balance between the tail diameter/thickness and that all important web between the tail button and body. The tails are very active but not so much so that weakness in the web allows those tails to be bitten off easily. The two new small baits I have had the pleasure of using have been winners. I am positive that the molds will be too. I hope to find out for sure soon.
