Mo Magic 4" Tube Tails
« on: 12/07/14 15:35 UTC »
I had a few short shots on the 4" Mo Magic's I was shooting today (fyi..putting a little worm oil on the tail area pretty much clears that problem up...and shoot hot and fast!)....but I had an idea that turned out pretty good! Maybe the concept for a another variation of the Mo Magic???

The tails sure do look good in the water!!

I cut the tails using the Lurecraft Tail splitter: http://www.lurecraft.com/Deluxe-Plastic-Splitter/productinfo/2X138/

"What if" the tail was machined like the spline for the tube??? It could be a killer "tube" !!!

I like that idea a lot! I can see that with a watermelon body and chartruse tails on a jighead for walleye, or how about a black body and watermelon tails for smallmouth?

I sent a bag full of 2 1/2", 3" and 4" Mos cut like that to the river a couple weeks ago with some friends. They planned to fish them like the old Super Doo baits. I should call and see how they worked.

I would really like to see a "Worm nose" jig that was the exact size to fit the 4" Mo Magic if it was trimmed right at the front. With eye sockets!!!

The volume might not be high enough for a cast mold...but how about an CNC lead mold? To make the head lighter I would mold it in a lighter lead alloy or ?? (tin?), but maintain the size of the head to fit the plastic bait.

Justin your my right hand man, feel lucky to be so you are easily replaceable with well about anything. When people  talk about how great I am and what an amazing gift to lure design I am you should feel so privileged that you know my real name and have my personal phone number.  :o :P ::)
If we are talking about big heads dude your nugget is the size of a 55 gallon drum  ;D

While you guys argue, I'm coming up with different ways to use the bait. How about welding a skirt on the front like a hula grub? I think that would be a great flippin bait.

I like the idea of putting a skirt on the front! I have the skirt mold...I'll give it a try.

You know what would be even better? If CTom would make a skirt of all different colors, and put it on a Mo Magic with a different color body  than the tail....even better make the tail 3 different colors going from dark on the top to light at the bottom!
(there....that will keep him busy all day Monday!!! :P)

Not me. I have stuff to do and yesterday was my slacker day. Andy, you and Mo can work at this new idea. Better idea even is to make a skirt and glue it to Mo's nose so you could enter him as a new species...star-nosed-mutt. You could claim him to be a first cousin to the star-nosed-shrew...or mole, one of those ground dwellers has a start nose like an inverted tube skirt. The skirt on his nose would go good with Mo's one front tooth.
