Essential series molds
« on: 12/30/14 19:35 UTC »
I realized nobody has really said anything about these so i figured i would start. i just got my mold and was satisfied overall considering the price. The design of the mold is pretty smart, and these are great to get if your starting to learn injecting on a budget. One thing i would suggest to the people that make these is the inside is slightly bumpy causing the bait to not be perfectly smooth and shiny, and i know these are probably flying off the shelves because they are cheap but it would be great if they could smooth it out somehow to make the bait come out better. Besides that these molds are awesome and i will definitely but more of them eventually.

I have a completely different opinion on the surface...I really like the textured surface. I think it looks more realistic and reflects light in multiple directions.

To polish the surfaces would be an expensive secondary process that would really add cost to the molds.

Since most of the baits are available as both cast molds and CNC molds you have a choice!

Also, the increased surface area will disperse more scent (whether dipped while fishing or impregnated in the shop).

It gives it character and women love character. Men love it because it's cheap and bass don't care. Sounds like a win win to me.

Plenty of info was out there on these molds prior to release, why Do-It made them, how the baits will look, etc.

Maybe I missed something....

NO, you didn't miss anything Jim.  There's been plenty said about the Essential Series of molds and components both before and after their introduction.  I don't think anyone should be overly surprised by the finish on a 30-40 dollar cast aluminum mold.

I think this was covered pretty well before the molds were even released. If you go to a Chevy dealer that sells Impalas and Cadillac's on the same lot and you want heated leather seats, you can pretty much eliminate any time spent look at Impalas.

In a liquis environment, the fish will not see any difference so this simply shows that its the angler that's fussy. Fish see sand cast and smooth baits in the same way.

OK it's story time, Y'all gather 'round,

One day I bought a pair of shoes on the internet.  I had bought shoes sorta like them before but I hadn't had any experience with this particular model or design of shoe.  I'd heard good things about them though, so I decided that I'd give them a try non the less.

It took a few days but the shipment finally arrived.  I was very anxious to see the box and I immediately tried on those new shoes.  Then I took a little stroll around the dining room...  only to find out that the shoes sorta pinched my toes... and didn't match my outfit quite like I had hoped... so I returned those shoes for credit!

and everyone lived happily ever after.   :)

WAIT... that story has a moral.

Many times what you think might be good isn't really what you were looking for.  When it comes to shoes especially, its usually best to try them on before you purchase them.  That's kinda why we sell the sample bags.  I've sent dozens upon dozens of bags of Essential Series bait samples all over the Country.  Many of those folks liked what they saw... purchased a mold... and requested more samples.  Some of those folks weren't heard from and perhaps some are just waiting for the right time to make a purchase.

Out of all those samples sent, I never DREAMED that every person out there was going to be all sorts of happy and thrilled with what the saw.  I had no preconceived notions that they would all buy a mold or that they would even LIKE the baits...  We realize that this line of molds can not and will not be some sort of cure all for EVERY customer out there.  It was designed for a specific demographic and I feel that it covers that niche very well.  None of our molds are built for EVERYBODY.  That's why there ARE so many.  Hopefully you can find something in there for YOU.

OH YEAH... the moral...

Buy a sample bag, or request a sample or two with your order.  We're more than happy to help you find something that works for what you're doing and how you fish.
