That's how I make the earthworm. Makes a great trailer color for a jig

Great fish catching color!

DF...What is the sink rate compared to the original GY senko and how about the "shimmy"?

Curious if the HD gives you the same fall rate/shimmy without salt..

Thanks!

Jim

Ghostbaits- I have been playing with one also.  The closest I can get is the following:
8oz essential plastic. Far better plastic for the Senko.
4 tablespoons softner
4 tablespoons HD.
This gets me about 10.5 grams. Depending on the colors Senkos weights will vary. But 10.5 is right in the middle. The essential plastic is really good for Senkos. I stretched a normal Senko to 10.25 inches and Essential stretched to 13.5in. The one test I havnt conducted is the hook tear test but need to get a calibrated pull tester from work next week.  The HD did not give me a waterlogged bait after it was stretched and thrown in the tank. I only wish I could shoot the dam mold without dents.  I have tried every single trick mentioned on this site and still can't get this thing to shoot right. It's getting to the point that I don't even want to make them anymore.

For me when I shoot the senkos I shoot and hold for 10 count and then fill the spur with hot plastic. It will suck most of the plastic down as it cools which will cause the dents if there's no plastic to suck.

I have tried it all. Hold 10, 20, 30. Top off, cold mold, hot mold, cooler plastic, hotter plastic, slow shot, fast shot, and a mixture off all these trying to find the right combo.  Just very frustrating. I think I spent another $200 going through material trying to get this right.  As a Manufacturing Manager who has Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, tool makers, programmers, CNC machines of all types, quality departments, anyway you get the point.  I'm not at all happy with this mold and a very disappointed customer who really thinks Do-it is a great company.  If I'm not doing something correct, then please explain the process steps to me because right now I'm getting a 50% or more scarp rate.

I stopped making stick baits a loooong time ago because I had issues with dents. Tried everything.  Never got good results. Had a variety of molds. Still have some hand poured molds to use but gave up on the injection.

Are you getting dents in the body of the bait....or air pockets in the nose?

Sorry Jim, I wish I could help you out but these are some of the first stick baits I have shot so I have not had a chance to test them side by side.  Carls recipe sounds on par with what others have posted on here.

When I started this hobby, I heard nothing but problems about stick baits and moved on to other baits.  Because Do-it makes really good quality molds, I was hoping that when they came out with the Senko that they got it right.  It wouldn't be ethical for me to take the molds to work and ask them to figure it out.  I didn't go to school for Injection Molding but I do know when there is a process failure. 50% scrap is a huge process failure and maybe the failure mode is me. But without a process it's just a crap shoot.
