Good morning from southern Oregon and happy fall, y'all!

I have read a lot about microbubbles and there's been much discussion over the need for safety precaution, and honestly I would say most folks caution against using them regardless.

Here's what I am wondering-
Although the plastic has a pretty nice floating quality to it already, I am looking for an extra float without the need for cork, etc.  I came across this material available through M-F:

Is this the same as "microbubbles" or are they more of a brand?

psst..Jim, I did not include this in my email to you.  I didn't think of it until the last couple days...I am still eagerly awaiting response from the knowledge well of yours!  :)

Enjoy the day gang!

I use this stuff.  I haven't seen the stuff from Lurecraft but it is white powdery substance that aerosolizes very easily.  I use the same precautions.  It will change the color of your bait.  Difficult to get clear like colors.  It really helps the bait float so it has a place in the cabinet but I don't use it on everything.

I've been testing and finally found a foam that will take the heat and has the buoyancy to float even with a hook in the bait.  It is round, a little over a 1/8" diameter, and grey in color.  I have tested it in the toad and it works really well.  I cut two small pieces about 1.75" in length, poured the belly, laid them in the warm plastic of the belly, closed the mold and injected it.  It works really well.  I don't think this would be ideal for guys in heavy production, but for those making baits for themselves and their buddies it would be a good alternative.

I have a handful of new molds I need to get up on the site.  As soon as I get that done I will make a video of the foam and post it so you can see the process and how it works on the water.

Thank you to you both!  Jason, I am excited to see the vids.  That foam sounds interesting to say the least.

Have you tried grinding up the foam and adding it to the plastic in a more powdery form? I'd imagine it would dull the color a little but if it floats I think it would be great.

I don't think it would work well ground up.  I have made nuggets with it.  It will work well for some in certain applications.  For me, I was just looking for an easy and safe way to make my frogs float.  This works well for that.  We are also working on a snake and I think it will work well for that as well as you can just add it to the head portion.
