I guess what I was asking is can I impregnate the plastic b4 I pour it into my molds? If so, do I add the Hawg sauce b4 or after I heat it? How much per 4 oz?

Welcome der, J.

I no longer cook-in scent, as it's more of a waste than anything.  There can be some scent left in the mix if You cook it in but it's most efficient to just add it to the bag when You bag baits after the cure.  Hands-down, IMO, add scent when You bag...most Tackle Crafters have this question when they 1st start (I did, also)...and You now have Your best answer.  OOP!  Really.  That's from the heart.

For a ratio...add 10-15-20 drops per bag, depending on the amount and size of baits in a bag.  At mOst, I'll add 25 drops of scent to a bag, but that's when I want them to stAnk.

Agree on adding to the bag.  If I want sent I add around 5 drops for scent baits using garlic

I use the bags they sell in the store cause I sell a few here and there. But a zip lock will work

ZipLocs actually work quite well, but Laminate Bags are best.

I did ziplocks for awhile but now I only use the laminate bags because they make the baits look a lot better and if I'm not mistaken keep the scent on for longer

I put the baits, in quantity, in the plastic storage containers, add the scent and let them cook. Periodic shake or turn. Then I bag as needed.

RR.... right here for the bags.  http://store.do-itmolds.com/Bait-Lure-Bags_c_256.html

Also, on adding scent.....you can cook it into the plastic as long as a scent has an oil base. I've done some experimenting with the Cherry Bomb scent from the in-house scent provider here at Do-It at a market level and by far and away the results showed a preference to it being added in the bag, not cooked in. And that was done using the anglers buying baits.

Guess it depends what you are trying to accomplish if you add in while cooking or when bagged.

Scent will not be absorbed into plastics when bagged so most will just wash off on the first cast or while handling. Scent appears strong to the angler and more appealing when added to bag but how would this help in fish catching if the scent is gone when it hits the water. Look for the oily sheen when the bait is put into water, that is your scent coming off of the outside of the bait.

Not a huge believer in scent helping much anyways but I always cook in a couple drops per 8oz and then add a drop in bag for the angler as well.

If you are skeptical on this, add scent to the bag, leave however long and then take plasctic out and rinse with water. No smell, scent washes right off.

Not to oppose here, but my scent absorbs within days or weeks...even a heavy dose in the bag goes dry before long.  I've noticed the scent staying on my baits after mAny casts and several fish.  I've been offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and fishing FLAT on the bottom (not slightly off bottom) and had fish eat my plastic, in the middle of the night.  That's Scent Aquisition, IMO.  The 1st time this happened offshore, I wasn't but several miles out and the water was a little muddy.  Flat on bottom, dark, murky...AND with a straight-tailed bait.  That leaves only one factor, outside of vision.  I can't remember what color that Carrot was, though.

Also, when I scent on the heavy side, the bag has scent on its entire interior, including along the zipper.  Once the baits absorb the scent that the baits can "reach", the baits end up dry but there's still scent oil along the outer perimeter of the bags interior, including along the zipper, so clearly the scent hasn't escaped or evaporated by ventilation through the zipper or leached out of the bag itself.  To me, that kind of narrows it down.

"add scent to the bag, leave however long and then take plastic out and rinse with water. No smell, scent washes right off."....jim@ghostbaits

This is generally where I am at with scent. I do have an anise scent I made with worm oil and anise essential oils that some people like to have added to their baits when bagged up, but I only put a drop in there. The only scents that I think are truly viable are those that are water based or made from an organic emmulsifiable oil...one that can mix with water. Cod Liver Oil is a natural oil extracted from fish and is able to emulsify. Fish live in water, not oil so for the most part I feel that the scent is for angler, not the fish. BUT, if using scent boosts your confidence in a bait, by all means use it.
