I've been using crystal clear for the past 3 years and I have yet to have a problem with it. That being said, the essential plastic is some good stuff that can take a bit more heat. If you're just starting off, maybe go with the essential plastic. I think I'll be making the switch to it when I run out of CC plastic.

The Essential is probably going to be more forgiving than the CC for the beginner and that is how it is formulated. Once a person becomes more familiar with the ins and outs of plastic handling the CC will offer a far greater range of uses.

If I were you, I'd keep a very healthy supply of BOTH around.   ;)

Seriously jl3140 pretty much summed it up the overwhelming majority of people never have an issue with Crystal Clear and the Essential Plastic is a very good plastic that is a little more forgiving for the beginner.  Both need care when it comes to mixing in the container before drawing out to heat EACH time.

Would not hesitate to purchase either.

After recent use of the Essential, I would start out there, learn the ropes and "graduate" to CC.

Essential series plastisol is not inferior or second rate by any means....

I have both. I like essential better. It is cheaper, better heat tolerance, to date I haven't browned any and have reheated the heck out of some batches, less bubbles and I believe has a better elacisty.

be aware the essential series plastisol does not float unless you add alot of softener.

I ran through about 70 gallons of cc last year and there was an issue with a box or two that made me have to throw out a good amount of product and it put some seriously flawed baits into customer hands. It is my opinion that the cc formula changed at some point whether deliberately or not.  The last order I was using this fall it seemed that they have it fixed but i switched to the essential series.  I have shot about 18 gallons of it this month and so far so good.  Its way more heat tolerant as advertised which is what I need since I do lots of bright colors.  As always i take the bag out of the box and mix it very thoroughly.  To get close to the consistency of CC soft I have been adding a little under 2 tablespoons of softener to 20 oz of plastic.  The bodies of the baits feel more firm than CC soft at this formulation but the elasticity of the essential series seems to give the baits action that is just as good if not better.  Like I said earlier this is not a floating plastic so maybe not the best for some applications.
