Getting closer

Pretty happy with how these turned out considering it was only my second attempt shooting some plastic.

Nice question mark. I like the blue. Makes it pop.

Hmm, I'm not seeing the pic on my computer. Wonder why ????

The blue is actually a light Junebug with some UV and a little violet Hi Lite. A recipe I borrowed from the site here. The question mark is the Flippin Zip. I can't wait to take these for a swim once the river thaws out.

I was joking. All it shows is a question mark

Try uploading it to photobucket and then pasting the link for message boards into your comment.  It should show up then.

For your next picture try adding a walleye you've caught using these along side the baits! Looking better than good there.

Thanks Tom. With a little luck, the ice will have cleared enough to launch a boat in about 5-6 weeks here. Right now the river is a snowmobile highway. LOL  Can't wait to try these things out.

I'm pretty happy with what I've made so far but I have a ways to go yet before I get where I want to be with making baits/brewing up colors. I'll get there in time.

No better time than right now to start with two color shots beginning with the tails. Simple stuff. If you can shoot baits that look like those already, you are ready for tail colors.

That's my plan. I think I have the heat/time in the microwave pretty well dialed in to make a consistent plastic. I also need to find some color recipes that will get me in the neighborhood of baits that work well here.  Cotton Candy and Electric Blue are just two of them. I'm pretty happy with the char/green color but want to contrast it with a bright green. Still looking for the right bright green.

As an aside, I'm having trouble with the ring it mold. I get one good bait and one where the rings don't totally fill on the other. Always in the same spot. I'm shooting the mold fairly hot, holding pressure and topping it off as it cools. I am thinking it's a heat issue with the plastic but the one good bait/bad bait is throwing me off as to what to do to fix that issue. No doubt they are fishable baits as is but one of two isn't where it should be.  Any suggestions ?

Try not to shoot the ring-it too fast. If the mold is warm and the plastic on the warm side just a wee bit slower steady injection pressure.

I found a tiny burp in that mold and opened up the vents in both tail ends just a hair using a triangle file and having sharp edges. A couple light swipes and bingo. The extra air flow helped a lot.

Do-It must be out of stock on plain and fluorescent greens as I don't see it listed, but I make a great bright green using the fluorescent green at 10 drops to 4 ounces and a single drop of plain green and one of white. Just a thought for you.

I'll try shooting it slower and see what shakes.  I shoot in my garage and my heater is woefully inadequate for keeping it warm so I shoot in a hurry before the cold gets to be more than I care to deal with. Too bad as there a lot of things I would like to try = back to the drawing board for a heat source.

I'll have to go get a fine triangle file. The ones I have are rather large for the job I'd think.

I only have the X2 florescent green but none of the other Do-It greens. Maybe one of the Essential colorants would work.
