Second try making laminates
« on: 03/21/15 09:48 UTC »
I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. The belly is a light pearl with .008 fire opal glitter with a little UV. The top is a light X2 watermelon brown with a touch of uv, green hi lites and a .015 gold flake that reflects light like a silver hologram does. Next time I will add a little more gold glitter to the top color but this is pretty much what I was shooting for when I tried making this color = I got lucky. LOL

There you go. Maybe just a bit more glitter. Try a lump of gold hi lites in the top color.

Thanks.
Yup, more glitter for sure. I've already learned it's easier to add glitter than remove it. HA.  I was shooting for a slight green hue so that's why I went with the green hi lites. I didn't add very much and to tell the truth, you can't even see it.  My original plan was for more a honey colored bait but I didn't have an Amber colorant to work with. I have some Amber X2 on it's way here but I got impatient so tried the X2 WB. LOL  I tried the same colors with the ring it mold too. I was able to get a nice laminated bait with that too but the WB just washed the pearl right out. So if I try that combo again, I'll go with a heavier pearl.

I'm still really happy with how this one turned out. It just blows my mind what is possible color wise with just the colorants that are available. Throw in all the hi lites, pearls, glows and UV etc. that are out there on top of all the colorants and my brain is in total overload.

That passes in a hurry when you get fish on the baits. But then you find yourself needing to order more of everything.

I'm thinking that on the back of an all white chatter bait in a few weeks would be the ticket.

Thanks J. It's not much compared to a lot of the baits I've seen posted on this site but it's progress for me and I'm good with that.

The recipe pretty easy.
The top is 4 oz of Essential plastic, 3 drops of Watermelon Brown a pinch of UV and green Hi lites and the .015 gold glitter. Hot jewels it's called or something like that. The belly is  4 oz Essential plastic, 10 drops of Jacobs Fluorescent pearl, a tiny bit of UV and .008 Fire Opal glitter.

The mailman JUST dropped off the 2.5" Fry and 3.5" Super Fry mold and some Amber X2 I ordered the other day. I'm headed to the lab to try these molds out right now.  :)
