I cooked up some 4.5" lake fork lizards for a sampler for a guy from Central Minnesota a while ago. He was fishing some rock against shore the other day and nabbed a small smallie. Thinking that they maybe were feeding on crawfish he hung one of the lizards on his jig and the first cast produced this "over" 19" beast.

It appears that the lizards work for smallies. On another note, the river here is seeing a flush of mud puppie activity lately so a lizard might be a good option for waldo as well.
