Stuff
« on: 06/14/15 11:24 UTC »
First chance I've had to mess with plastic in over two months now. Mostly a tail pouring session but I was able to try out a couple new molds that have been sitting on the bench for better than 6-7 weeks now. Amazing how out of practice I was/am.

I was using remelted plastic more or less just to see how these baits would turn out. It was raining out and very humid so had a fair bit of micro bubbles to deal with but I'm happy with how they turned out. My nephew will get these anyways and he won't care about the bubbles one bit.

I've been seeing some really nice stuff on these pages lately. WOW ! The talent and creativity on this board never ceases to amaze me.

I don't worry any over the small bubbles in my crappie baits. They add more reflective surfaces for light to bounce off.

Your being away from the molds certainly hasn't hurt your touch. Nice colors, great looking baits.

Thanks all.

I'm not too worried about the bubbles either Tom. Actually, they look like micro glitter and don't detract from the bait one bit I don't think. As humid as it was I was expecting bubbles which wasn't all bad. It gave me a chance to try a few different things to try to eliminate or reduce them. In the end, I was only able to reduce the amount of bubbles vs eliminating them. Perhaps starting with a fresh batch of plastic would have remedied the situation but I wanted to work with remelts under these conditions anyway so it was a learning experience for me = a good thing.

I have three more new molds to try yet but Lord only knows when I'll have time to play with those. I've not had time to wet a line since April but a few friends of mine whom I've given some of my baits to have been doing well with them so there's that. Maybe I'll get out fishing come November ? LOL

Yes, everything is X2 colorant except the pearl tail ( iridescent pearl ) on the pink bait. I got that from Jacobs.  X2 is some potent stuff and will go a long way.

A long long ways.i bet the big guys like this stuff. The flo and cht are awesome to someone that used bland colors for years That's why I said when I opened the mold first time dang that's purty. I worked years trying to pull out cht. like that and never did. I have a lot of pearls but not irr. pearl . wonder if mo milk would work with the pink? Those colors that you show are crappie magic.
