Drunken Strawberries
« on: 06/15/15 21:21 UTC »
I fill a quart jar about 2/3 full with hulled strawberries and then pour them back into a mixing bowl where  2/3 cup of sugar gets stirred into them. The get about and hour of soaking up the sugar then the contents of the bowl go into the quart jar. I add about 2/3 cup of 100 proof vodka, then fill the jar with Schmirnoff Strawberry flavored vodka. The lid goes on the jar and its gets set in the fridge for two weeks. After the two weeks spoon a half dozen of the berries into a Collins glass, add a little [or more] of the vodka to the berries and then top the glass off with some swwet white wine or champagne, chilled. A couple ice cubes can go in if desired too.

Any of the citrus sodas can be used as the mixer as well as lemonade.

Peaches and peach vodka can be done in exactly the same way. These fruit things are delicious...and potent. Ma's good for about one glass before words are slurred pretty bad.

Here's mine, all ready to hit the shelf in the fridge.

I got domestic tonight and did up three nice jars of strawberry pancake and waffle syrup. This strawberry shortcake stuff every night is going to go against my waistline pretty darned quick. I'm still looking at a ton of strawberries and the raspberries are going to be starting real soon.

Carole and her sister got into the jar on the 4thand finished it off in near record time. I had a couple of the strawberries but I'm not much of a drinker so I had a Sharps while thegirlsgot giddy.. We picked up some strawberry lemonade that was bubbly as a mixer. The sip I had was something else as were the couple berries. The berries were definitely 80 proof.

Now on to her rhubarb concoction.
