Thanks for all the inputs, I definitely hear you guys on taking advice from everyone and then creating your own way, thats the beauty of this hobby/business!

This gizmo I have shown before and is slicker than slick for cleaning eyes. The jig shown is a 5/16 and I just popped the paint from the eye using this tool. I got a bunch of these while working a show in St.Cloud, MN a couple years back and now have one in every bait pail I carry.
I have messed around with a few tools, not this one specifically but would something like this or the little red handle eye buster leave sharp edges that injure knots and fishing line?
Also another possible technique, I tried a soldering gun, unfortunately the tip is too thick but maybe some brands have a skinny enough tip to poke through the eye, that seems like it would come out very clean. Just a thought if anyone wants to go experiment!
