motorcycle vs van
« on: 08/25/15 20:29 UTC »
Had a chance to see what the benefits of wearing a helmet are when a van is nailed by a cycle going 30+ mph, just down the street tonight. Took the biker right out of his shoes. Van driver was shook up but not hurt from the accident, which appeared that the biker caused by running a turning light. The van was in the lane when the light turned and the biker sped up. Dumb. By the looks of things his life will be a wee bit different for at least a while even though the cops said he didn't appear or seem to be hurt all that bad. His bike was shortened up to about 3 feet in length. Darned good thing he had that helmet on. And leathers although leather doesn't do much to prevent bones from breaking.

The street that runs past our house is the third busiest street in the city and nets the second most speeding citations. Its a money maker, this street is, but its also been a crippler. Posted at 30 mph the average clocked speed is 38 mph. We saw one person ticketed for doing 83 mph on the street....on a bike.
