Its late, but a lot of the post-spawning Browns are starting to eat again. When they start to eat, they EAT!!! Look at the jaws on this beast. Pretty incredible that in a couple months, this fish will transform back to normal. This guy ate a silver goose turd on a 1/4 ounce Worm Nose Head jig.

That's exactly right. Almost gruesome, but so cool to see up close. Battle scars everywhere.
Surprisingly, they still fight like a beast. He just bull-dogged the bottom. Screamed off some line twice. 8 pound test so you have to play them gingerly.

Is the natural reproduction successful, or are they dependent on stocking?

Probably no natural reproduction. But there are a ton of unclipped salmon (not stocked) out there that are the result of successful spawning on the Michigan side. I spoke with trollers this summer that reported almost 50% of their salmon catches had an adipose fin which is a wild fish.

Beauty fish Marc.
Looking at the forecast, I think my 2015 river fishing may be over.

Yes, we jumped into winter quick. I had 6-8" of wet heavy slop.
