I hunt deer with a .50 in-line Thompson Center scoped with a Nikon pro-staff 2X7 power. Very accurate and a 1 shot wonder.
Years ago I took a fancy to pre-64 model 70 Winchesters. I have one in .220 Swift, one in 06, one in .243, one in 257 Roberts, and my squirrel popper, a .458 Winnie Mag Safari Grade. I don't play with these anymore or at least not very often.
The big guy I bought and it came with reloading dies, a couple hundred once fires, the powder, some bullets and about 120 factory rounds. I take it to the range maybe once in the summer with a couple rounds just to make noise, but its a super accurate rifle with a 2 power Leopold scope. The Swift is the real shooter of all of these and will print a dime sized pattern of 5 shots at 100 yards consistently. The Roberts isn't too far behind the Swift. Both of these have straight 6 power Redfields on them. I have 2 Custom 700 Remingtons, one in 222 Remington and the other in 7 Mag. The 222 is scoped with a straight 8 powder Weaver and the 7 carries a 2X7 Redield, widefield. Both of the customs are shooters. I have the dies for all of them but I don't run enough ammo thru them to do any reloading....maybe if I won the lottery and could buy a couple hundred thousand acres in Montana.
