Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving.  Don't eat so much Turkey on Thursday that you can't go fishing on Friday!

I'll wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and remind people to remember what the day stands for. Be safe in your endeavors and eat well!

It's 5:30am here in SW Louisiana, my normal wake up time, but it's Thursday, Turkey Day..Forecast 70 degrees and fair skies. Perfect weather to be outside frying a bird.
I pray everyone here has a blessed day with friends and family, and safe conditions if you need to travel. PS...power naps are welcome after eating!  ;D ;D

Happy Thanksgiving to all as well.
The turkey is in the oven. All the smells of thanksgiving blending together are wonderful.  I love the smells of thanksgiving.  The citrus smell of Cranberry salad - oranges & cranberries from the blender.  Mint from mint tea steeping.  Pumpkin from a just roasted home made pumpkin pie.  Fresh coffee.  Potatoes boiling for mashed potatoes.  Bread from dressing and breakfast toast. Onion, celery, butter, poultry seasoning from cooking the stuffing liquid.  I have so many things to be thankful for.

Hi All,

This my first post.  I've heard good things about CCM for a while and finally went on its' web site.  I had questions about the new plastics so I figured I'd call before ordering.  Jason answered and I bet we spent 30 minutes on the phone.  What a great guy and what a great way to run a business.  The fish on the plastisol container also says a lot.  I thought my first order was going to be about $50 or so.  Well, not quite $300 later....you know how it is.  I'm thankful for the opportunity to form new friendships through this forum.

I live in the small town of Cool, Ca.  It's about two hours from Clear Lake.  A couple friends and I have a tradition of going minnow fishing on Clear Lake the day after Thanksgiving every year.  It's the only day of the year I ever fish with live bait.  It has also turned into one of my favorite trips of the year.  Sturmer is 80+ years old and is a die hard flyfisher, Larry pushes 70 and likes the salt, and I'm the babe magnet at 65  :-* and the bass guy.  Last year was typical...29 degrees all day long...3 old guys shivering in a nice bass boat constantly wiping our runny noses on our jacket sleeves....each of us with a spinning rod, 8 pound test, a split shot with a 2/0 Mosquito hook tied at the end of the line, with a giant minow lip hooked at the end.

All we did for 8 hours was tell lies to one another and talked bad about other friends who weren't there.  Oh yeah, we also caught a bunch of fish between 5 and 8 pounds.  Unfortunately, we ran out of minows and had to go home.

I'm thankful for having friends like Sturmer and Larry.  I'm also sad knowing that in the not too distant future those trips will probably come to an end.  So, in closing, it's nice meeting all of you.  Maybe next time I'll talk a little bit about the thrill of catching a fish on a fly you tied, or on a jig you poured, or on a minow you bought.  It's time to go to bed... big day tomorrow.

Until next time,

Denny

Denny,

Thanks for the great post...I think it's a great example of why we should give thanks on thanksgiving....it's the good memories that count!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone...  Made "Beer can Turkey" for the first time and it came out great thank goodness...LOL
If weather cooperates, I'll be taking the family out for some spotted bass fishing in Nacimiento this weekend.

Denny, Welcome to the forum.  I hear they have been catching some CL monsters recently off the rock piles.

Thanks Jason and Family for all your efforts
Best of luck to you all.
