Wutz-It Forktail nose ripping
« on: 09/28/16 16:32 UTC »
Anyone that has the Wutz-It Forktail have the nose of the baiting ripping easily? I'm having issue's with the nose ripping out after a fish or 2. Love the action of them just wondering if the nose area is to thin to hold the hook after a fish hits it.

Are you letting the baits cure at least a week?

Im using Spike It med/soft. I typically super glue any bait im using to the jig head if im using one but flukes I fish weightless. I have not thought to super glue them on the hook or back together once they rip.

Switch out to a straight medium plastic, it will help some.

The design of the mold won't render plastic any more or less resilient.  If You're seeing unusual tearing it's either the plastic itself, rigging, cover or fish.

You can use more-stiff/hard plastic or a different brand.  I have understood that, all other things equal, too much Stabilizer can make plastic "brittle".

I have seen an alternative to the screw type hitch hiker.  It's called hitchseries.com.  I have actually made a knock off version of it and it seems pretty solid.  Also could be less damaging to the plastic, but I'm just guessing.
