Dual Injector Conversion Kit
« on: 10/21/16 13:22 UTC »
I bought the kit recently and am having trouble with it.  I'm using 2 craw molds from another company and all I can get is swirling...no definite color separation.  One color is really dark green and the other is a chartreuse-green-pearl with some flake.  I'm shooting around 320 as well. I've tried plunging a little plastic out so it comes out even in the mold (I think).  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!  I'll add a pic later on too.

Who's molds? Mold number? Some are not compatable with any dual injection system. It all depends on how the molds are formatted.

Some are not compatable with any dual injection system.

Only molds I am aware of that will not shoot a proper laminate are multi cavity single port molds (unless they're offset like the one BTS sells). As long as the injector can provide equal pressure, the block directs each colour through equal length passages and the colours are the same viscosity it will laminate in just about any multi or single cavity mold.

Make sure both colors are the same temp. It's pretty critical as the viscosity must be the same for good lams. Different temps=different viscosity. If you have trouble after getting your temps correct, try shooting a bit cooler. 305 or so.

Orientation of the bait in the mold is key. Top injection molds work great. A lot of the molds that DO-IT Molds are able to do laminate bait's with dual injector. Like has been said temp. is critical.

I have 2 of the 3.5 craw molds from Enforcer Baits in Canada.  I've kept both colors relatively close as far as temps go.

That looks like a temperature problem, you will have to mess around with it to figure it out. The lower your temps are the easier it may be to get a consistent laminate. Some may tell you its the mold layout but it isn't. MANY single cavity side inject molds laminate fine. I will say I don't like how the runner extends so far past the gate but I don't think it is the problem.

I was looking ay that extended runner myself. It could be that plastic filling to the end could turn back into the gate and muddle things a little. It could also be how the injector is set into the port too. If its turned past the 90 degrees to split the colors equally you'll get this same thing.

If you look at your mold you'll see a vent running across the ends of the feeler and another coming off the tips of the claws. You could use a utility knife to cut vents from the claw tips into the side without the vent as a last resort, but it doesn't look like a vent thing.

I realize that may not be what you are trying to produce, but I think those would work very well. I like them alot.

I have a couple dual injectors and it looks like in some of the baits the orientation was wrong on your blending block. If you put the blending block in the mold oriented wrong, you will get one claw one color, the other claw the other color instead of the claws being split between each color. The orientation of the block should be perpendicular to the mold, as opposed to being placed parallel to it. That said, definitely work on your temps too. Your baits look good, though. Keep at it, you'll get it.

I agree with AP on this.
I see some swirling wich is caused by different viscosity, but I also see some split the wrong way like the blending block was parallel to the mold instead of like a T across it.

Some colors especially with pearl powders in them are a thicker viscosity than others so they need to be a little hotter than the other color.
