Snow blower....
« on: 01/25/17 08:58 UTC »
Whoever coined that name most certainly has never had to deal with the snow we have today. I have an 8 horse Ariens that can toss "normal" snow about 50-60 feet. Today the snow forms balls about the size of a bowling ball at the auger housing and deposits softball sized slugs three feet out of the chute. Gonna be a longggggg day behind that machine. On top of that Carole and I got hustled out of bed this morning by a fire truck and ambulance at the neighbor's house. Our neighbor Marie has been in failing health with lots of hospital time of late. Haven't heard anything from next door yet but her husband is good about letting us know how she's doing. Doing a little praying while clearing this white crap.

The stuff we got at my place was more like 8" of slush rather than snow. I'm sure my blower isn't going to like it much either. And it's really gonna put a hurting on what ice is left on the lake.

Sorry to hear about the nieghbor. We got are share of the white stuff to blow and it's still snowing. Got to get it done before work and probably after work the way it looks write now. It's nice to freshen things up instead of the dirt snow.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

I'd be fine with dirt right now. Dead leaves and old corn stalks too. I like rain too....don't have to shovel it or blow [push] it. For all I care if the scientists came up with an additive to spray in the air that prevents snow, ice , or freezing temperatures below Kenora, Ontario I'd be just giddy. Night-time lows of about 52 degrees here would be about ideal.

We only have a half inch of slop here. It switches back and forth between snow and rain. I had hoped to hit the lake again today but not interested in sitting out in this slop fest portable shack or not.

Here in Warsaw, Indiana it's 42 with a high today of 50. Raining a little. No ice or snow anywhere! Two more weeks like this (Feb 15) and I told my wife I'm going to put my pier in! (God is being goof to us Hoosiers)

Tom you may want to look at this upgrade for you snow blower. I have a 5' blower on a big Toro Grounds master and did a similar mode and it was the difference as night and day.

So far, we have only had two small snow events here in my part of missouri.   Each was approx 1 inch of the white-so I have yet to break out the shovel/blower.  Got a ways to go yet but I hope to keep it that way.
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

About the same report here (Southeast Iowa) olsarge, two snows of maybe 1" or a bit more, and a little rain and sleet. We are a bit muddy though.

I looked into this idea a couple years back and I only have 1/8" of impeller clearance so I'd gain zip. The snow today had like two inches of slush under it. Basically the snow was water logged. In fact the weather at 5 tonight said we set a record today for the most amount of water ever in 8.5" of snow....like a 1/2" of water. That's wet snow.
