Essential mold(s) with brass pin

For those of you that are afraid to damage your mold with modifications, here's the core 2.0 method.

Just cut (and file smooth) a brass rod to fit in the mold cavity and you're on your way to shooting fairly simple and consistent core shots... my chartreuse is a bit strong, so the core does not have as sharp of a contrast as I would have liked.

I'm a little slow so...

You inject the light color first with the solid pin in.
Cut off the tail
Pull the pin out (leaving a void down the center of the bait)
Reinject with the vein and tail color
Magic happens?

Man...I hope that's it, because that is mega cool!!!

Tom - I did this color combo especially for you... (probably won't use it on the Green and Gold side of the river, though).  ;)

Andy - the only thing you need to be aware of is that the vein is basically a bottle neck to the tail, so I recommend shooting it with a little hotter plastic to make sure and fill the tail.

What size is that brass rod?

It's just a 1/8th inch brass rod from Menards... not sure if it is supposed to be for brazing or what, but it's super cheap ($3 for 36").

I'd use it over there. Just to be antagonistic I'd use it over there. Watch out though if I was catching fish with them.

Simple and effective, I like it
I'm surprised we don't see more mods of essential series molds given the much lower price point.

Are you shooting the mold on its side so the rod doesn't move out of position?

Hey, I even figured it out! I still wonder if the coreshot will help you catch more fish? I can see using this with a clear body with glitter to give it a bright core shot.
