Black and blue are great companion colors but you might want to try adding just a hint of pearl to the blue so light doesn't move thru it so well. Another thought is to get your hands on some Marine blue colorant Mix it up sort of strong and try it against the black. Marine can really hold its own when partnered with black. Try the little bit of pearl first. Not enough to make it a true pearl color but enough to "just" be noticed.
