CNC for Catfish Dip Worm
« on: 03/25/17 07:58 UTC »
This seems like an odd question, but does anyone make a CNC injection mold for a catfish dip bait worm? I have had several requests for these and cannot find a maker. Thought about modifying a  ringworm mold of some sort.

Just cut the tentacles off a tube and stuff the body full after jigging the hook.

Not that I'm aware of...but there are some threads on loading tube baits for catfish.

I was wondering the same thing last summer. Dip worms are cheap enough to buy but it's the principle of the deal for me as I would like to make my own just because. lol

How about the zipper tube?
That is very, very close. I think it might work well with the tail trimmed.
I didn't know Do-It had such an animal. Thanks Muskygary.

Same sentiment here 2XL. Rather make it myself. Gets to be a habit being self sufficient.

Hey Muskygary, do you know what the diameter of the zipper tube is?

No I don't. Don't have that mold. Just looking at with all those ribs, looked like it would be good for catfish bait.

I agree. Hey Do-It, can you tell us the diameter of the Zipper Tube body? And the length from the head to the beginning of the skirt? Thanks!

How I make dip holders.  Cook some plastic and color it red or reddish.  I use a threaded bolt 4 or 5 inches long course thread works better.  Dip the bolt in the plastic until it gets thick enough. Then I dunk it in cold water and just screw the bolt out leaving the thread ridges in.  Bolt size depends on how big I want it to be  one half to three quarter works for me.  A thin coat of worm oil let's the bolt unscrew easy.  I use a small paper punch to make small holes in.  If I want tentacles I make the holder longer and use scissors to cut them.   Load it up with bells of hell dip and go fishing.

I made some using this worm   https://www.basstackle.com/product_p/116-1-4.htm  lots of deep ribs to hold your goop, no hollow center though.

That's the mold I was looking at also DF. I really don't want a hollow center, a worm threader will do the trick there. The zipper tube could also be poured without the pin. Thanks for the idea. How thick is the center of that worm DF?
