Efishnc inspired
« on: 05/21/17 21:03 UTC »

Seen at get together  and thought I would give it a try. It ran true but I think the arm might have to be shortened but wanted to wait until I fish a lake that has size and numbers of fish .

Awesome WW. Thanks for the reminder. Did you make the rig for that or is it a store bought?

Yup, that's the general set-up I use for muskies... when the bite is tough, I pull out my beetle spin swim bait, or "B.S." lure as it is informally known in the muskie camp.  The tougher the bite is, the smaller the blades I use because they spin faster giving a more frantic sound (IMO) and the larger bait portion, appearing to swim slowly after its prey, becomes a key target to inactive fish.

With the size you got there Wacker, I'm betting that should be a smallmouth catching machine!

On the Madison chain by me they will hit a 3/8 oz. spinner bait used for bass all day long.

Gotta love those action lakes... your bait should be right on the money then.

What can you tell me about that locking coil on the arm?

efishnc the coil is made by using two pices the same size and one wire wraps around the other. A length of wire for the arm make one end like your going to make a loop instead you pinch it together and slide the coil down over it and than your ready to form the rest of it. Pm me and I'll send a pic that might help you .

I have yet to have a fish that can pull it apart. And I make short leaders that I use with my blades.

I vaguely remember a "napkin drawing" at the get-together showing how you made it... but I don't remember much more than that (other than wanting to use your method within my methods).  It will definitely be nice to have more availability to switch baits and/or weights when using this rig for muskies.
