The new Dart head called again this morning and I had to tinker again, this time it was eyes. The problem was that I like eye sockets and this creature had none, so I used nice clean punch and tapped cavities into the cast, trimmed but yet unpainted heads. Being soft lead it took little to imprint the sockets using the mold itself to hold the heads while doing the tap thing. Works like a million bucks!



I’ll post the finished product as soon as the CS Sealcoat dries.

And here they are. These are the 1/4 and the 5/16 sizes, my most used sizes for the Wiley fall walleyes.



This blue color is my mainstay color for most of my fishing. As a rule I am not an “eye” guy, feeling they don’t matter a bit to the fish, but this head just seemed short of something as it came from the mold and creating the eye sockets, if one chooses to make them, is a piece of cake. Try it. The inset eyes look super natural, way better than the surface mounted eyes.

What size punch did you use!

I think it measures about 5/32 Jim. That's a #4 Attack series eye.

I did these up today to make a walleye box up for when the fall bite starts to take off. 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8, top to bottom. 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 hook sizes respectively.
