4 degrees
« on: 11/10/18 18:38 UTC »
.....was the air temp this morning when I snapped this picture of the sun just clearing the horizon.

I saw nine deer but none were in range or had the right point count. Still, the quiet that came with this sunrise was deafening and brought back past times when I was able to hunt some fresh snow in the true cold. This morning absolutely made the season worth it. Today was the last day I'll hunt this year.

As we age we learn what our limitations are. But we also learn to embrace each moment. Back when my dad was alive he told me " There will come a time when you realize catching a fish isn't the real reason you're there " I'm sure the same goes for hunting.

To sit in a deer stand in the dark and watch the world come to life is about as close to god as I've been. It truly is a beautiful thing.

Time spent outdoors with the chance to harvest or not is awesome. To be in there environment / home is a blessing.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

Great picture

Seems early for it to be 4 degrees already even that far north. I guess it’s because last week we were still mowing yards here but I think that’s done for the season.

9 degrees for me in southern Iowa Saturday morning.  Got up to 28 in the afternoon and felt like a heatwave. Seeing the woods alive with deer movement at all hours of the day made an all day sit more feasible mentally.

I had several encounters and opportunities with various sized bucks, but not the right one.  The cold front/rut combo had them really moving.  It was a good weekend to be in a stand.  We have a couple more weekends before the shotgun seasons start so still plenty of time left to arrow one.

Your picture Kyle hits a topic my wife and I have been reading up on lately. Desire Paths. You guys get some time look that phrase up and do some reading on it. We see them everywhere and just knowing a name and having an understanding of why they're there gives you a different look at things.

I'm into to all that odd stuff. I love who the Indians were and how they treated the land. The old Indian phrase " White man look - but not see " Is really what intrigues me. They would do things out in nature that were signs to their tribe but others would never notice. Like Marker trees or some call them signal trees. I like it because it gives me a different look in the woods.
