The "little" mission continues....
« on: 04/28/19 09:43 UTC »
Here are some new color schemes based on the small 7/10" bodied crank baits I like so well. All of these have been left un-weighted. I took an un-weighted bait fishing with me Friday morning and simply clipped a 1/16 ounce split shot about 20 inches ahead of the bait and the action when retrieved was nothing but nice. The action on these small framed baits on a moderate retrieve and using #4 line is a fairly tight wiggle, not a great deal of side to side motion. Two inches at best so the 20" lead worked just great and the weight was well more than need to sink one of these little dudes. 3/64 would do even better maybe.

Keeping in line with the other baits seen here, the pink fellas do have the stripes. I was attempting to get a very faint stripe using clear with blue hi lite added along with barely a toothpick dip of blue pearl Createx. In the cup when mixed it appeared to be pretty blue and I thought for sure it would leave a trace but nada. I can just make it out when checking for the lines in bright sunlight but there's no way a picture will show it so its back to the drawing board on that idea. More blue hi lite and maybe some blue transparent...a much strong color. Maybe even a good dose of UV powder in clear with the hi lite. This will give me something to play with.

The purple/pink stripe numbers are really interesting, while the blue/black striped ones are really close to a well colored sunfish as they sit. I could green up the backs of these with a thin final coat over blue across the very tops of backs, maybe even just use a clear laced with green hi lite and just a hint of brown transparent to tone the blue down a bit....things to play with. lol

Can’t wait to see what catch on the micro cranks ones it finally warms up and stays warm.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

All I have for split shot is a small round one, no ears. A 1/16 ounce bullet nosed weight, like one would peg for a worm, might be a good weight too. Streamlined and balanced real well.

Start with the larger stick type bait if you're new to air brushing. The tiny ones are a real sucker if you haven't got a good grip on air flow and trigger control. Thank God for running water and soap. lol

Thanks. I think our Scheels handles water gremlin products so I'll have to swing in there tomorrow after I get my stitches out.
