Have the crappies been on a summer slump for you? If so, maybe tried changing up tactics.
Summer crappies feed heavily but the probably are balking at daytime water temps and bright sun. Try hitting the water really early, like get there in the dark of early morning, and use a really lightweight and smaller top water bait. These Yozuri “Snap Beans” fit the bill perfectly. They require not much more than getting cast out and just let them sit with a tiny twitch every minute or so. Light mono works great for this.

At this time of the year there are tons of young of the year fry struggling to stay alive and many stay out of sight until the lights go out. Crappies know this and will suspend only inches under the surface just waiting for the slightest divot on the surface caused by a fry pecking at some breakfast. Then the hit comes!
If your crappies seem to be in a summer funk, try fishing when they are most likely to feed…. very, very early morning. And change to a tiny floating crank. It works!
