Carole and I got down in your neighborhood this morning for some crappie fishing and we came away smiling. I've had some new colors and baits to try but the heat and water levels just kept me at bay until today. We got an early start and around 9AM she hung into a nice black crappie. Once in the boat the tape read 12 3/4". That is her largest crappie to date. I'd just done a color and bait change for her and this fish hit on a mis-cast right out in an area of wide open water.

We had to weed our way thru some different baits and colors before chartreuse made itself the clear winner color-wise. Actually we needed waxies on everything up until the sun was hard on the water. By 8:30 it was straight plastic and the bite was on. All told we threw back maybe 40 decent fish today and kept just a few for tomorrow's dinner. Saw some 9" sunfish today and a couple of those wouldn't right themselves and swim off so they made the trip home with us. 82.5 degree water everywhere we went. That was only three degrees cololer than the air.

Anyway...you've got a chunk of heaven in the river down there. Next time I'll call in advance to see if you can come out and play.

I can do nothing but agree....the river is in rare form.

My son was down this weekend...getting in little bass fishing with his Dad...before he becomes a Dad...and we had a great weekend on largemouth during the "power hour" just before dark on Saturday....and smallmouth all day long on top water on Sunday.

We had fun fishing some of the different baits from the bait swap....all seemed to catch fish!

So many fish...so little time...but I can make myself available any time you want to come down.
