4" Standard carrot rigging?

I'm heading out to the river to do some shore fishing here shortly for walleye stripers small ect. I'm running to the store first so any suggestions on rigging a 4" standard carrot? I figured 1/0 worm hook will work but might be a little long a limit the baits action? Any suggestions?
