Finally got out fishing today! Because we've been getting our house ready to put on the market, I've only been out 4 or 5 times this year. And other than technical difficulties (I went out with 3 rods, by the end of the day I was using just 1) it was a good day. 3 of us got around 75 fish in the boat, most of them were in the 12-15" range and mostly largemouth. However, today was the day I've been trying for. Background: I love smallmouth. If I could catch only one fish for the rest of my life, they would be IT. However, I never catch big ones. In fact, pretty much everytime I take someone out fishing where there's smallmouth they will catch at LEAST one that is 18" plus. My biggest has been 17", and that came last year. I catch big largemouth regularly, and of our fishing group I hold the record at 24". TODAY was the day that I hit an 18" smallie.

On what? A watermelon red 7" ribbontail made by Justin9j. THANKS for sending those out in the swap man! Also got fish on the dragon tail, which is a very cool worm. Got fish on a few other baits too, but mostly stuck with the worms or tubes. 10 days until our trip to northern WI. Will definitely find more hogs up there!
