I busted out the big dog to see if any toads were hanging around the cove. No pics, the wife wasn't around. Caught a nice female between 5 and 6 (closer to 6, maybe 5 post spawn). She looked like she was going to explode any second. I bet she was carrying at least a pound of eggs. Caught a couple males, missed a few and had one break me off. Totally my fault. Set the hook on slack line and was using a floro leader. I hate using a floro leader, but I know it makes a difference (at least I have myself convinced it does...). I need to finish changing out my rods to either floro or braid.
Yesterday Diane and I fished the Wutz-Its for a little over an hour. They have incredible action for a jerk bait. Not only do they dart in the water, but you can let them sink and they almost flutter. I had something bite mine in half. I'm guessing a Gar??? She almost skunked me but I managed one on the way in. I had JR pour me up some watermelon red with a pearl belly today. It was his first time using the blending block and he did a really nice job. We'll have to give them a workout and see what the fish think over the net couple days.
