Swim Toad
« on: 01/14/13 14:32 UTC »
I bought the 4” Swim Toad off of a member on this board.  The mold arrived on Saturday.  I was anxious to try it out, but did not think I was going to be able to.  Saturday was supposed to be my younger daughter’s 4th birthday party.  She wound up getting sick and we cancelled the party.  I seized the moment to sneak out to the garage to try out my new mold.  I threw some scrap together plastic together to get a feel for the mold.  It shoots great!  I am very happy with this mold and will probably order a couple more.

I made some more last night.

I only had one issue and it was my fault.  I was hand pouring the bellies didn’t let the belly set for long enough on one, so it ran when I went to inject the top.  Oh well.  You learn from your mistakes.  Thanks for looking!

Those look great. Some colors look good when the run like you were saying one did on you I like doing that with my okechoobie craw color makes some really cool baits that way

VERY nice indeed... and I will agree, some colors do look nice when they run a bit.  I don't see too many critters swimming around with clean lines on them anyway, right?

Thanks again guys! My daughter has an ear infection and is getting better each day. My fingers are crossed that the rescheduled party for Sunday happens.

I think I said it wrong when I said the colors ran.  I hand poured a white belly. It was not completely set when I closed the mold to inject the top color. The white from the belly ran a little bit, so when I opened the mold after injecting the top there was a white blob by the one eye. I still plan on using it as I am sure it will catch fish.

Usually if I inject before the belly sets well, the belly lifts and I get a different color encased in the middle of the body if I'm really lucky.  Usually though the belly lifts and plugs the legs and I get to remelt it and do over.
