Another 3.5"

The local lake I have been fishing has just gotten down to normal water levels and the Mississippi up here finally got half tame too, then we get another 3.5" of rain in less than 24 hours. The whole lower 1/2 of Minnesota has been drenched and everything water-wise is looking to jump up again. Plus rain is forecast every day for the next week. Fun, fun, fun!

Send it down Kansas way. Just starting to cut wheat, but I wouldn't mind being rained out. 3.5 inches! We are only up to 4.5 for the whole year. Make sure the boat is good to go, might need it to get around. Joey

Kansas is incredibly low! Kanapolis boat ramp was only 1.3 feet deep and that's after they dredge it. The other two ramps were high and dry. Seems the world is feast or famine

The darn river is forecast to go up 5 feet by next weekend! The flow to go from 60,000 cfs to over 130,000 cfs ...that's a LOT of water!
I have to find me a couple local lakes!

5 feet. Just think Andy, you'll be able to stand on the shoulder of Highway 61 and throw spinnerbaits in newly created bass habitat.

The Tennessee this past Wednesday was flowing 101,000 CFS average for Mon. - Wed. through G'ville, Wheeler, Wilson & Pickwick. It was over 200,000 CFS several times this past spring. Makes river channel fishing tough above 125,000 or so.

We had another "soaker" that lasted about 20 minutes just a while ago. Lightning, thunder, down-pour....the whole nine yards.
I got to dump another 1/4" out of the gauge. I just checked the weather service I use and more storms are firing up back in Iowa and headed in our direction for more fun later.
The lake out to the north that I fish a lot is now over a foot higher than on Thursday. There are three primary branches of the river that feeds the lake that have all received a bunch of wet over the last two days so I have to assume it'll be another couple weeks before it will be worth the gas to fish again.
The weather people say we have an "active" but stationary low pressure system influencing all of the crap. I'm thinking central Canada or maybe Somalia needs a system like this for a decade or so.

I think most of the southern half of the US could use a system like that! Friday's storms broke up as the hit my county; we still got rain, just not the predicted pounding. Hopefully we don't get too much in the next few days; I'm hitting the Milwaukee River on Wednesday with the canoe.

I see Andy is likely taking another pounding tonight.
The weather center I use tonight had flood watches posted all over on the Mississippi River towns in Minnesota, including Winona where Andy lives. He mentioned something about five feet of rise there but further upstream predictions for 11 to 13 feet are common. Not going to be good regardless.
That little lake I fish is over two feet now and still going uphill.

Get out there and fish the mud fellas. Catfish bite great in rising muddy water. One of my favorite ways to fish for largemouth is flippin & pitchin a black jig in muddy water. I hit the backs of bays that have a creek running into them and drag a jig along every piece of wood I can find. ---Tim.

I think the west wouldn't mind some of that moisture either. Several days over 100, fires burning, heavy rain sounds wonderful. We have the opposite problem here, our reservoirs are draining and our rivers are low.

I' in No. Cal. We just went through six straight days of 105+ degree weather. The Delta breeze kicked back in this morning and brought us back to the low 90's. The 90's are doable, the 105's aren't.
