Ice Pick or nano fry

Ice time is around not too far off. I know most will say both but what are most of you use? mike

My wife has been perusing the New Catalog, starting yesterday.  She likes the Nano.  I looked it over and compared it to the Ice Pick.  I prefer the Nano, mostly because of the body it has, that the IP lacks.  That body will carry a jighead better...gives a bit more substantial hooking-point for "nose-hooking"...and also gives a place to put an Eye.  That's just MHO.

Nano...it has been a very good ice fishing bait for me.

I also use it a lot drop shot for bluegills and crappies, or on a small jig under a bobber.

You don't say whether you have either mold Mike. If you are buying, the Nano is way more versatile as far as a bait goes. On my last dock trip the Nano got all of the mega-crappies, 13" plus.

I'll go the other direction, ice pick. There are not as many molding feasible options because of how small it is, but  the ice pick style has been go to for many fisherman. The problem I have with the Nano is the body, when you start down sizing in jigs/hooks I find the body just gets in the way. FYI the ice pick tail mold can be used for other "FRY" molds

If the fish are aggressive then yes a bigger profile/bait is the way to go
