Busting Them on the new Swing Jigs
« on: 11/07/13 15:43 UTC »
My Swing Jig mold was delivered from Barlow's at noon...so I had to go home for "lunch". I made up two of the 3/8oz jigs and a 7/16 with a 3/0 jig and boy did they look nice!

So...I just "had to" go over to the boat club and give them a try! I rigged up the 7/16 oz one first with a watermelon brown with orange bellly Birch Bug (the one on the right) and on the FIRST CAST landed a sweet 3+ pounder. Now...that was either a really good sign....or I was doomed...turned out it was a really....really good sign!

In the next hour I landed 5 very above average, largemouth on the Birch Bug and 3 more very above average bass on the 3/8 oz jig with a watermelon Baby Berry. They were hitting those baits hard! I'm sure 3 of the bass were over 4lbs.

I was just casting it out...letting it completely settle  and then reeled it in slowly keeping contact to the bottom.

Those ribs on the Birch Bug were perfect for hiding and holding the hook across the back.

Does anyone have a brilliant  process to powder paint these jigs? So far the best way I've figured out is to hold it via the hook over the heat.

Since the hook is made on the head I'd say lock a pair of hemostats to the keeper on the head trapping the hook so I could paint it better . Then there is electro static spray .

I paint them just like toad said with hemostats.
