Caney creek sells a floatant tubing that you cut and put in the mold before you shoot. That makes the bait float.

Hoping others will add to this as I don't have experience with it, just saw a video on ccm

The 4 inch and 4.5 float well with the float tubing but if you use a clear plastic you will see the tubing I like using hard foam shaving foam mixed in white but there thed in head some wear?

The foam do-it sells or you can also get micro balloons and mix in your raw plastisol they work to but you should at least wear a protective mask because they can irritate you lungs i use both.Jay

They will float without the foam stuff.  You dont need the mico balloons either.  Are you using CCM plastic?  They float with CCM and LW plastic.  Havent used LC or MF,   Calhouns plastic they still float and also with Chemonics  plastic but those both stink real bad.

I use CCM regular plastic; and while they will float if you drop them in the water or a fish throws them off the hook, the 4/0 hook I use to rig them is enough to sink them.  I don't use foam or balloons personally.  If I have a follow and pause and let it slowly sink, that often triggers a hit.  Balloons are probably more convenient because you mix them into plastic.  You should wear a respirator anyway when dealing with hot plastic, so lung irritation should be a non issue.
