4.5" Dragon Tail

I've never fished this bait before, but I bought the mold a week or so ago. How do you guys rig it for bass? Weightless texas rig? Drop shot? Something different?

Drop shot.

I also use about 2" of just the tail for Crappie.

I often use a two hook drop shot with the bottom being full size and the top hook up a couple feet with the smaller bait.

It also works really nice on the Do-it worm nose jig.

The 4.5" Dragon Tail was a winner for me this past spring up at Mille Lacs.  My bass fishing experience is very limited but even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in awhile.  We caught several smallies in the 18-20" range drop shottin' staging areas for pre-spawners in clear water. 

I think the formula for the bait in the photo I was using was 6 oz. of plastic 6 drops of Watermelon Brown and a Copenhagen sized pinch of .04 Fire Red.

I haven't tried the tail for crappies yet Andrew but I'm excited to try it now!

I have only drop shot the dragon tail up to this point, but with what I gleaned from my shaky inquiry post, I will be definitely trying it on a shaky in the future... hopefully, this week if all goes well.

It works great as a drop shot.  I also have the tail mold and will usually use a chartreuse, or tomato, or red tail on a whatever body.  It's a good bass bait, Josh.

What kind of hook are you guys using when drop shotting this bait? Just a regular ds hook and nose hooking?

I've used the 6" t-rigged and weightless, I'm sure this one would work well.  Owing to its shorter length, I would also try the 4.5" on a jig head, which I've done with the 4" carrot.  I would also bet this would make a great spinner bait trailer.
