Oh what a beautiful morning....
« on: 12/13/14 08:30 UTC »
Or so the song says.

The dewpoint today at this hour is 37 degrees. The temperature right now is 37 degrees. Yup...100% humidity. Drizzle. Dense fog forecast. Sure does make the snow go away though. And it does a very good job of plugging up my lungs, thank you Mrs. Nature.

It isn't all weather either, but the weather helps it along. When we get conditions like this and a south wind like we have, the foul air alerts go off big time here...it seems that industrial pollution from the southern states gets hauled up this way on the jet stream and deposited right here where I live.

I'm not going to carp about this weather though. We're supposed to see almost 50 today and anything the falls out of the sky at 50 doesn't require shoveling or fighting a snow blower. AND, it has opened up some shoreline water that I have every intention of exploiting today sometime. I am actually humoring taking the boat to the river with about 3000 other people with boats that are tempting them. I'm gonna start the outboard for about five seconds and leave the boat where it is this weekend but I am getting a rod and shore box ready. Save for the thick air, this is darned near picnic weather...shorts and short sleeves anyway. I really wouldn't mind if it rained though and got some of this wet air dried out some.

Same weather here too. Didn't stop me and a bud from hauling the boat 1.5 hours to the Wisconsin River at Prairie Du Sac. On the water just after sun up and off by 11am with a limit of eyes and saugers. Couldn't see more than 50 yards in any direction but the temp was in the low 40s, a light south wind and the fish were poppin = a nice outing for December day around these parts.

I drove down and did some casting. Nothing to show for it but the late afternoon was nice to be out in. My plans got shortened when the kids from the cities decided to come down. I was thinking of heading out again tomorrow but Ma has put the chains on that idea.

WW Yes, we launched at the VFW. First time trying the new launch they built. The new one is a big improvement to say the least.

It was too foggy to see the shore by the power house and I didn't look when we left. That being said, I would bet there were a few waders there. There almost always is. There was one guy on the golf course side though.  As foggy as it was, I was surprised nobody chopped any rocks while we were there.

I would go again tomorrow but I had a last minute family gig sprung on me so I'm SOL  .....  Again   LOL

Got out down here for a few hours yesterday.  Tough fishing for sure, only managed two small keepers on a 1/2 ounce red eye shad and the other on a 3/8 oz chatterbait with a 3.5" swim bait trailer.  First time fishing in more than a month and it was just nice to finally be back out there.

We came in on 60.  The launch is really nice if you've not seen/used it yet. Been a couple years since I've been up there and I had no clue a new launch was in the works.
