Something a bit different
« on: 02/10/15 09:37 UTC »
Over the winter I have been shooting a lot of baits using the clear or near clear concept and decided today to try something a little out of the norm. The two different colors of plastic shown here are basically the two I have been using thru all of this clear stuff with the blue line being in a very thin smoke plastic [1 drop of X2 black to 4 ounces] and a real thin chameleon [2 drops in the same amount of plastic] for the other. I change the glitter colors when I want to get a different color, but for both of these I have used black in .015 and .040.

The picture shows bubbles nicely as I shot these in the garage at 28 degrees and the plastic isn't real happy at that temp. I was hoping the pic would show the line colors a bit better. Prior to making the baits I put a few drops of blue and florida grape in separate plastic mixing cups and then added the corresponding hi lite colors to the colorants and stirred them up good. After hand pouring the belly side a little on the short side I added the dots of colorant and used the same plastic to inject and finish the baits. I know the hi lite is in the line color and can see it but the picture doesn't embrace it very well. Outside in the sun the lines are really electric and shine like crazy with that nice metallic sheen the hi lites give.

I'm getting to where I have enough clear baits now and these may be the last of the clear run. I thought I'd have some fun with the lines and I'm happy with how they came out I just wish they showed what I see better.

Nice looking baits there. How much glitter did you add to that batch of plastic ?

The batch with the blue line, less than 1/4 tsp blended between .015 and .040. The purple line plastic has way less than that.

WOW! I like those, I might try that in a green pumpkin or some color closer to a natural minnow.
