Question about the beetle bug mold....
« on: 01/14/12 10:32 UTC »
Jason, or anyone else who has the 2.25" beetle bug mold, how easy is this mold to get the legs to cure straight after demolding?

Do you need to hang the baits by the sprue, lay them all out, or what? On most all my little baits I shoot I just pile them up on a cookie sheet as I demold without having to worry about them laying straight like a worm needs to while it cures.  These are swimming minnows, 2" curl tail grubs, and the 2.5 pan fry I'm refering to.  I'm needing a beetle bug mold and like the looks of this one but am afraid it will be a real hassle to cure the baits and keep them looking correct meaning the legs staying straight behind and not all crooked after curing.

Thanks
Craig

I haven't had a problem with them or had anyone give me any feedback that they are troublesome to cure.  They are pretty small and cure time should be low.  They pretty much lay as they should.  I think you would be fine treating them the way you are your other baits.

When in doubt, get a sample bag.  I'm a big proponent of no buyers remorse...

Jason, it's not a matter of buyers remorse with me.....I know the bait would work great.......just don't know if I can get the guys around here to try it.  They are used to beetle's in 1.5" in the johnson beetle spin type.

I'm also eying the flap jack mold as well.....dang I sure wish it wasn't time to pay quarterly sales taxes.  :-\

Not enough money....not enough time......too many choices of fine looking molds...... :D
God Bless!
