Bulk Plastic Containers

Hi folks,

Received my 5g bucket bulk plastic and I was wondering what way you guys pump out the plastic for use. It's heavy, and no way I am going to pour it, unless it's into another container like the 2.5g box with the spigot. Thanks in advance!

for the sake of mixing I'd almost tell you it's be a good idea to get  a paint mixer that pops into a drill to get everything evenly mixed. as far as pumping you could drop a cheap bilge pump in it & pump into your 1gal containers. im sure someone will chime in & list a easier if not better way

I pour my plastic from a 5 gal into a 5 quart ice cream pail, then funnel it from there into 1 quart bottles and 1 pint bottles that softener and stabilizer comes in. I leave 1/2" air space in those smaller bottles for shaking to keep the plastic mixed well. I use a pain mixer like Dob mentions to stir the plastic in my 5 gallon pails about every other week. Takes a minute and saves a lot on headaches down the road. The mixer I have has a shaft of about 16" and the mixer head is maybe 3" in diameter and 4" tall. Fits a 1/2" drill chuck. The small bottles make for handy use at the bench for me because I make batches of less than 8 ounces as a rule. I do not leave any plastic in the ice cream pail.

Any time you are working with the raw plastic between one container to another you need to keep the work area clean so you don't end up with crap in an otherwise nice bait. I clean and dry the ice cream pail I use and store it in a t-shirt bag so dust and grit can't get in it. My 5 gallon pails of plastic are covered with a 13 gallon plastic garbage bag and the covers get wiped clean before I pour plastic from the big boy or remove the cover to mix it. I'll admit that those 5 gallon pails can be a headache to work with but way less expensive in the long run.

I also mix the material, via drill mixer, while in the 5 gallon container and then pour it off (using spigot) into 1 quart and 1 gallon containers that are easy to hand shake.

I had to cut and bend a paint mixer paddle to fit it into the 5 gallon container.
