Floating Frog / Toad Video
« on: 10/06/11 18:37 UTC »
Here is a video showing how to make the Toad, really any bait, float.  Like I mentioned before, I don't think this would work well for mass production, but if you want your baits to float, this is an alternative to the glass bubbles.

The video also shows the Toad swimming, as a top water bait and popping it on top.

Let me know your thoughts.  I'll add the foam to the site tomorrow.

Boy Oh Boy Does that not look like a good top water frog or what.
Is that the 4.5" Toad?  A BIG atta boy for finding the foam.
It will slow the bait making process; but really add to the versatility of the bait.
I was holding out on the Toad, But I am pretty sure you just cost me some more money.  This would also be a good application for a multi-cavity belly mold.  Would speed up production I would think.

Watch those fingers!!!  That stuff is pretty cool.  One of the reasons I don't fish the moving frogs is you can't stop them and let them float.  Now you can!

Is this just the high density fly foam?? I used it in some frogs years ago and it worked great but discolored the baits after a few weeks.

Just curious. Nice video!!!!!!

Jason, thanks for always looking for new and innovative ways to help everyone out!

How true that is!

Lol, you would have thought I would have started with something like that.  It never crossed my mind to look at a "fishing" product.  I guess I just assumed if it existed everyone would use it.  I knew it had to be heat and plasticizer resistant so I just went straight to the industrial sealant material (ASTM rated stuff).  With that said, I am still testing it in pure plasticizer and so far it has held up well.  I'll keep an eye on it and if it does anything weird I'll post so everyone knows.

Thanks for the heads up.

Very cool.  The one thing you'll be happy with is our foam is about half the price of theirs.  I'll get it up asap - been fishing, I mean testing again.   ;D

Jason;  Was the white frog in the video injected with soft or regular plastic; or a blend?
