Hi Everybody,
I'm Italian and I live in Italy. EU Parliament is close to ban lead in fishing tackle.
From several years I'm fishing only with Jig Heads and Skirting Jigs poured by my own ... my 1st mold has been a Do-It Multi Cavities Round Jig Heads.
In several USA States lead has been already banned from a while for sinkers and jigs: how did you solve the problem of an alternative raw material?
About Bullet Weights, I have already in past realised some from a Bronze bar, cutting little cylinders, turning and boring them, but it's a real PITA.
What about Jigs? Of course it isn't possible to cast Tungsten or Brass with home features.
What do you think about Bismuth? Its Specific Weight is 9,79, that is not so far from Pb 11,35. Instead the Melting Point of Bi is 271,5 °C, while Pb is higher till 327,5 °C.
Well, is there anyone that is already using Bismuth, please? If yes, with which results?
Thank you in advance for your technical replies.
Bye.
